Job Posting: LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Benzie Shores District Library • Frankfort, Michigan
Salary: $58,000–$70,000
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week; includes evenings and weekends

Reports to: Library Board of Trustees
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Level 1 Professional Librarian Certification from the Library of Michigan preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in library administration, management, or a related leadership role.
- Strong understanding of public library services, operations, and community engagement.

Job Posting: LIBRARY ASSISTANT
Benzie Shores District Library • Frankfort, Michigan
Wage: $18.00 /hr. (starting)
Schedule: Part-time, 16-20 hrs per week, includes evenings and weekends. Open availability.

Reports to: Library Director
SUMMARY OF WORK:
- Assists patrons with using library computers and other technologies, including but not limited to issues with printing, word processing, scanning, web browsing, wireless access, mobile devices, etc.
- Staffs Circulation & Children’s desk
- Proficient in basic aspects of Circulation System
- Assists with Reader’s Advisory and Reference
- Processes MeLCat deliveries and requests
- Assists with library projects as needed
- Assists with keeping the library tidy, sanitary and orderly
- Assists with library programs
ABILITIES:
- Ability to work with the public with a strong customer service orientation
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to shelve and shift books (kneeling/standing repeatedly)
- Ability to be self-motivated and work unsupervised
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible
- Visual acuity and physical skills necessary to retrieve materials from shelves, maintain library materials and operate library equipment and software
- Ability to to push/pull loaded book cards and lift/carry materials up to 40 lbs.
- Hearing ability to answer the telephone and patron inquiries
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of library practices, procedures, techniques
- Knowledge of and adherence to standards of accuracy, timeliness, tact and confidentiality.
- Competent in MS Office programs and Google Suite
- Competent with library electronic resources (Overdrive, Hoopla, and other relevant resources)
- Advanced computer literacy, internet searching and evaluation skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Level III or IV Librarian’s Certification Preferred
EVALUATION
The library director will give an annual summary of work to the Library Board
