With over 20,000 titles, friendly staff, and services like after-hours pickup, meeting room reservations, and wireless printing, we’re here to help you read, explore, and discover—whether you’re a local resident or just visiting the Frankfort area.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Our friendly and professional librarians are happy to assist. We participate in interlibrary loan programs allowing our patrons to access even more titles from across Michigan and beyond.

Focus on Youth
At Benzie Shores District Library, we believe a love of reading starts early and lasts a lifetime. We take great pride in our extensive and thoughtfully curated children’s and teen collections, designed to engage, educate, and entertain readers of all ages.
For our youngest visitors, we offer a colorful array of board books and picture books that spark imagination and introduce early literacy skills through vibrant illustrations and playful storytelling. As children grow, they’ll find a wide selection of beginning readers and chapter books tailored to support developing reading abilities and foster confidence.
Older kids and teens can explore exciting middle-grade adventures, graphic novels, and young adult fiction that reflects their experiences and challenges their perspectives.
In addition to books, we provide educational tools, seasonal reading programs, and fun events that encourage curiosity and creativity.

Interlibrary Loans & MelCat
If you need a book or information not available at the Library, we can borrow almost anything from another library. You can request materials from all over the state using the Michigan Electronic Library’s MeLCat service. MeL is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library of Michigan.
After Hours Pick-Up
We have 10 Outdoor Lockers for for 24/7 materials access. To get started, place items on reserve from our catalog and set your pick up method to “lockers”. Please give us at least 4 business hours to get your items ready for you. You will be notified once your materials are ready. Not sure what you want or need help placing a reserve? Library Room Reservations
The Library Meeting and Program rooms are available to reserve. To reserve a room, you must complete an APPLICATION TO USE A LIBRARY ROOM. Please read the full MEETING ROOM USE POLICY prior to completing the application.
Computer Work Stations & Wi-Fi
The Library has computer workstations for use, free of charge. Time restrictions may apply if there is a wait list. Wireless access is available for free, and can even be accessed after hours in the library parking lot or patio.
Printing & Scanning
Black and White prints/photo copies are $0.25 per page (cash only. limit 50 pages per day). Wireless printing is available with compatible devices. Self serve scanning to a personal USB drive is free (USB drives are available for puchase). Color printing availbe by request with a 5 page limit. NO FAX

DVDs & Blu-Ray
Looking for a movie night option the whole family can enjoy? The Benzie Shores District Library offers an impressive selection of DVD and Blu-ray, with hundreds of titles across a wide range of genres—from blockbuster hits and classic films to documentaries, children’s favorites, and educational features. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for laughter, adventure, or a thought-provoking story.
To support accessibility for all patrons, many of our DVDs include Audio Description, a valuable narration feature that provides spoken descriptions of key visual elements—such as actions, settings, facial expressions, and costumes. This service is especially helpful for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, allowing them to experience movies more fully and independently.

Access a world of entertainment from anywhere. Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, music, movies, magazines, and more with our DIGITAL SERVICES.
Large Print Books
For readers who prefer larger text, we offer a robust collection of large print books, updated regularly with new titles across various genres.
Magazines & Newspapers
Stay informed and entertained with our selection of over 40 magazines and newspapers.
Back issues of magazines can be checked out for one week, and digital magazines are available through the Libby app.
