Frequently Asked Questions about Book Donations
We appreciate the community’s interest in supporting the Benzie Shores District Library through book donations. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive about donating books to the library.
Can I donate used books to the Library?
Unfortunately, the Library is not able to accept donations of used books. Due to limited space and staff resources, we are unable to process, sort, or store used book donations. Please note that any books left outside the Library or placed in the book drop will be recycled. We kindly ask that you do not leave materials without prior approval.

Can I donate a new book to the Library's collection?
We love hearing from patrons about what they’d like to see in the library. If there’s a specific title, author, or subject you’d like us to consider, we’re happy to take suggestions.
That said, please know that all donated materials are reviewed according to the Library’s Collection Development Policy. This ensures that every item we add supports our mission, serves the needs of the community, and fits within our available space and budget.
If you’re interested in donating a new book for consideration, we encourage you to contact us first.
